Not sure what to say? Start with what you actually know.
A text message gives you information. It does not give you access to somebody else's thoughts. Good guidance keeps those two things separate.
The four-part approach
- What the message literally says.
- What it might mean. More than one interpretation may fit.
- What you do not know. Uncertainty should stay uncertainty.
- Possible responses. Choose one that sounds like you and gets useful information.
No mind-reading
We will not tell you that one delayed text proves disinterest, attachment style, manipulation, or a diagnosis. Observable behavior and direct communication are more useful than invented certainty.
